A variety of companies create lists rating attorneys by different criteria. The following are rating lists available online and at Jenkins. Please note that each list uses a different methodology and it is important to evaluate the methodology when evaluating the rating.

Finding Attorney Lists & Ratings

Avvo.com
A numerical rating based on the information available in an attorney’s Avvo profile. Avvo does not provide a numerical rating for profiles that have not been claimed by that attorney. For more information, see What is the Avvo Rating?.

BestLawyers.com
Searches will return a limited number of results. Subscription required to view full results. Lawyers included based on peer-review. For more information on reports and rankings, see Methodology.

Chambers USA

Pennsylvania Super Lawyers Law & Politics/Thomson Reuters
Library has 2004-2007, 2009, 2012, 2017, 2019.​ 2017 and 2019 also include Delaware lawyers. A special advertising supplement to Philadelphia Magazine. Pennsylvania Super Lawyers began in 2004. Lists include "Top 100 Pennsylvania Super Lawyers", "Top 50 Female Super Lawyers", "Top 100 Philadelphia Super Lawyers", "Top 50 Pittsburgh Super Lawyers". Individual profiles of super lawyers are also included. Law & Politics uses a general survey, a screening and research process, and a blue ribbon panel to determine which attorneys are included in their list of Super Lawyers.

Pennsylvania Super Lawyers Rising Stars Law & Politics/Thomson Reuters
Library has 2006, 2007. A special advertising supplement to Philadelphia Magazine. 2012 Rising Stars are included in the 2012 Pennsylvania Super Lawyers. Highlights the top young lawyers in Pennsylvania, representing over 55 areas of law. Law & Politics uses a nomination process, peer evaluation, and internal research to determine their list of Rising Stars.

Philadelphia's Best Lawyers Woodward/White
Library has 2009, 2010, 2013. A special advertising supplement to the Philadelphia Inquirer, The Wall Street Journal, and The New York Times. Excerpted from Best Lawyers in America. Woodward/White uses system of nomination and voting by attorneys practicing in the same specialty area to determine their list of Best Lawyers.

Philadelphia's Top Rated Lawyers ALM Media
Library has 2012. A special advertising supplement to The Wall Street Journal. Top Rated Lawyers was compiled using LexisNexis Martindale-Hubbell® Peer Review Ratings™.

Best Lawyers in America Woodward/White
Library has 1983 - present (some years may be missing from Jenkins collection). Woodward/White uses system of nomination and voting by attorneys practicing in the same specialty area to determine their list of Best Lawyers.

Pennsylvania & Delaware Super Lawyers Law & Politics/Thomson Reuters
Library has 2012, 2017, and 2019. 2012 includes South Jersey lawyers. A special advertising supplement to Philadelphia Magazine. Law & Politics uses a general survey, a screening and research process, and a blue ribbon panel to determine which attorneys are included in their list of Super Lawyers.

The Legal Intelligencer occasionally publishes special supplements that include surveys, rankings, and ratings. Some special supplements that include attorney lists and ratings are "Diversity", "Lawyers on the Fast Track", and "Top Laterals".

Publications like the The New Jersey Law Journal, The National Law Journal, and The American Lawyer occasionally publish articles or special supplements that include surveys, rankings, and ratings. Some special supplements found in The New Jersey Law Journal that include attorney lists and ratings are "Associates Class", "New Leaders of the Bar", and "New Partners Year Book". Some special sections found in The American Lawyer that include attorney lists are "All-Star Laterals", "Big Law Innovators", and "Dealmakers of the Year".

Library has Pennsylvania volumes 2000-2016 in print; Pennsylvania older volumes available on microfiche. Attorneys listed in the Martindale-Hubbell® Law Directory with a Martindale-Hubbell® Peer Review Rating™ will have an "AV" or "BV" next to their name.
