Pennsylvania Appellate Law and Practice

Finding Appellate Briefs

When writing an appellate brief, it may be beneficial to see a brief related to a case with a similar fact pattern. Jenkins has access to briefs from Pennsylvania Supreme, Superior, and Commonwealth Courts on the Court Records & Briefs database, on the library's Westlaw computers, and on microfilm and microfiche. See below for more details.

Jenkins' Court Records & Briefs Index
Jenkins receives briefs filed with the Pennsylvania Supreme, Superior, and Commonwealth Courts. Jenkins retains whatever item(s) the court has sent us. Please note that not all records and briefs are sent to Jenkins.

Generally, fulltext electronic access to briefs begins with 2006 for all courts. Select older briefs may also be available electronically. Index coverage varies by court: Supreme Court (1862 to present), Superior Court (1895 to 1974, 1980 to present), Commonwealth Court (1987 to present).

Materials not available electronically are available on microfilm or microfiche in the library.

Please contact our reference librarians at 215.574.1505 or research@jenkinslaw.org to determine if we have records and briefs not covered by this index.
